Temporary road closure

Applicants wishing to close a road on a temporary basis to hold a parade or a street party require formal permissions to do so, and prior approval must be given by the council before a road may be closed.

Road closure charges

The fees from 2024 to 2025 are:

  • Orders with limited impact - £151.75
  • Road closures of significant size and/or multiple road closures - £220.50
  • Commercial events - £330.75

  • Witney Road; South from its junction with Spareacre Lane to its junction with Acre End Street.
  • Acre End Street from its junction from Thames Street; north to its junctions with High Street
  • Thames Street
  • Mill Street with its junction from Thames Street; north to its junction with Spareacre Lane
  • Newland Street; east to its junction with Queen Street
  • Queen Street to its junction with Oxford Road
  • Oxford Road from its junction with Queen Street to its junction with the B4449
  • Cassington Road from its junction with the B4449 to its junction with Queen Street
  • Station Road

Alternative route for all the traffic shall be via Spareacre Lane and Hanborough Road to the B4449
